Adeptus Mechanicus - Knight Errant painted, and BlightWheel order arrives!

It is (more or less) done! The Knight Errant "Ignis Rex" is now ready for the tabletop! The heavy lifting was all done last update, all that remained was the shading and highlighting, and the various decorative bits.

I went with a scheme reminiscent of the previous Knight Paladin, though in blue rather than green (allowing for the green to be used for the power cables/power fist). The main colors being red and gold will help tie it in with the rest of the Ad-Mech army nicely as well.

In retrospect, I wish I had thought to model a footprint where the left foot is coming off the ground. Never fails that some bit of inspiration will strike long after it being too late to incorporate. Curses!

I used some rather old water-slide transfers that I've had lurking around rather than try and paint a rearing griffon with my sausage fingers. Overall the white transfer over the blue worked well, but the carrier film had yellowed somewhat on the transfer I used on the white power fist. I tried to paint over the worst of it to help blend it in, but there's still a bit around the edges. It's not as noticeable in real life as the picture makes it seem though. I do want to go back in and clean up the name on the scroll, it's a little sloppy. Overall however, I'm well pleased with how the Knight Errant turned out!

On Friday the order I'd made from Blight Wheel miniatures arrived and I set to cleaning them up, so I snapped a couple pictures of the pieces before I started assembly. Overall I'm rather pleased - very crisp casts, and they definitely capture the Ad-Mech feel rather well. My plan is to do one loyalist and one traitor Magos - the one on the left will become my loyalist magos, and will be getting a Servo-Harness, and be toting a Conversion Beamer and Omnissian Axe. The model on the right is going to be used as Urtzi Malevolus, the Despoiler of Mars - the picture below is from the Visions of Heresy book, and it's a pretty darn close match!

Now if it would only stop being 100 degrees every darn day. Paints drying up and my wet palate needs to be topped off every couple hours while working up in the hobby loft. Oof!

Of all the Knight Titan models I've seen, the Big Daddy sculpts are some of my favorites. Great to see your AdMech army taking shape again. :)

Good looking knight you've done there.
Really looking forward to seeing what you do with the Blight Wheel minis. Really wish they would do some in the same style, so many uses for cool mechanicus models.

Knight looks sweet mate! Will really bring some oomph to your Apoc games for sure.

As to your idea for a footprint - to be honest, I don't think there would be one so close to the area that is the base. Maybe just the toe imprinted on the edge, but being that the Knight would have rather long strides, I don't think the base would fefature any imprint at all really.

Great work on the Knight!

I really love that Blight Wheel Magos and am seriously considering picking him up as well! When I first saw the complete model on Morbรคck's blog, I was instantly reminded of a certain piece of artwork by Wayne England - unfortunately, I cannot seem to find it right now.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing this unfold!

Thanks folks!

@#2501 - Likewise, I think his sculpts were the most faithful to the aesthetic of the old Epic models. Kicking myself that I didn't buy more when I had the chance!

@Manus - Totally, I've sent Laurent (one of their designers) a few requests/ideas, hopefully we'll see more add-on type bits from them in the future!

@Dai - Indeed! The rule set that I'll be using actually has it designed as a non-Apocalypse unit, it's more on par with a Leman Russ than a Baneblade in the current revision which I appreciate. It definitely will draw a lot of fire due to its size, of that I have no doubt! Good call on the footprint, now I don't feel so bad. :)

@KrautScientist - I'm well pleased with the Blight Wheel stuff, great alternate Ad-Mech models, for sure! I built up the spider-techpriest last night and primered it, I'm hoping to get some work done on it and some pictures taken in the next day or so!

Oh that's a nice Blight Wheel figure for Urtzi Malevolus. Damn I love Dark Mechanicus.

Nice work as always on the Knight. The power fist hand is awesome.

That knight looks great! Nice to see some Blightwheel in an unpainted state - I've just ordered some of their stuff too.

I like how he turned out. The blue is a nice contrast to the red. I'm looking forward to your Despoiler of Mars.

I appreciate the kind words, everyone!

@LuckyNo.5 - Indeed, I wasn't initially planning on including a dark mechanicus contingent, but seeing the mini and the pic, how could I resist?

@Sir Tainly - I've been really happy with my order, and have thoroughly enjoyed putting them together. I'll definitely be ordering from them again in the future!

@D'nyarak - Should be done this weekend! I've added a bunch of servo-arm/cables to him to help tie him in with the artwork and primered him last night. Pics to follow!
